Kit Harrington to Star in BBC Adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle’s Mummy Tale ‘Lot No. 249’
Gatiss will reunite with Game of Thrones star Kit Harrington for the project, who will play Abercrombie Smith. The cast also includes Freddie Fox, Colin Ryan, John Heffernan, James Swanton, Jonathan Rigby, and Andrew Horton.
Gatiss told Deadline, “It’s a serious delight for me to delve once again into the brilliant work of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, this time for the Christmas Ghost story. Lot No.249 is personal favourite and is the grand-daddy — or should that be Mummy? — of a particular kind of end of empire chiller: a ripping yarn packed with ghastly scares and who-knows-what lurking in the Victorian closet.”
Lot No. 249 is scheduled to air on BBC Two this Christmas. A U.S. distributor has not yet been named.
Horror fans have been clamoring for more killer mummies on screen, and it looks like they’re finally getting their wish. Lot No. 249 promises to be a thrilling and atmospheric adaptation of Doyle’s classic story, with a talented cast and crew led by Mark Gatiss.
Here’s hoping that a U.S. distributor gets announced soon so that horror fans on both sides of the pond can enjoy this festive fright fest.
