In a post shared on his official Instagram tonight, Scream 7 director Kevin Williamson confirmed that filming for the next chapter in the iconic horror franchise is officially underway.

Williamson, who penned the original Scream for Wes Craven, is now stepping behind the camera as director for the first time. In his Instagram message, he shared his excitement:

“I’m not supposed to post about Scream and I hope Spyglass and Paramount will forgive me, but when you have one of the best days of your life, it’s hard not to share it. What an extraordinary day working with an amazing and talented cast and crew. They brought their ‘A’ game and had my back every step of the way. I’m so grateful for this opportunity and for Wes Craven, whose influence has been with me throughout it all. The impact he had on my life and career is endless. What a day! I can’t wait for tomorrow!”

Fans can expect more updates on Scream 7 in the coming weeks and months.

Neve Campbell will return as Sidney Prescott after skipping the previous installment, and Courteney Cox will reprise her role as Gale Weathers.

The confirmed cast includes Mason Gooding as Chad Meeks-Martin, along with newcomers Celeste O’Connor (Ghostbusters: Afterlife), Mckenna Grace (Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire), Sam Rechner (The Fabelmans), Asa Germann (The Boys), Anna Camp (Hysteria!), and Isabel May (1883).

It’s been revealed that Isabel May will play Sidney Prescott’s daughter, signaling that the new film will focus heavily on Sidney and her family.

Scream 7 is set to slash its way into theaters on February 27, 2026.
