Ketchup Entertainment Secures Rights to ‘Hellboy: The Crooked Man’ – Upcoming Reboot Film
Millennium Media recently wrapped production on the highly anticipated live-action film, “Hellboy: The Crooked Man.” In a recent update reported by Deadline, Ketchup Entertainment, known for releasing Robert Rodriguez’s “Hypnotic” earlier this year, has successfully acquired the rights to distribute the upcoming Hellboy installment.
Ketchup Entertainment CEO Gareth West expressed enthusiasm about this latest acquisition, emphasizing the film’s significance among fans worldwide. He stated, “We are very excited by this latest acquisition, this film holds a special place in the hearts of fans worldwide and we are committed to preserving and building its legacy as we bring the film to fans and new audiences.”
West also highlighted the collaboration with Jeffrey Greenstein and the esteemed team at Millennium Media, expressing confidence that their partnership would ensure the film’s success. “We are confident that our collaboration with Jeffrey Greenstein and the exceptional team at Millennium Media will enable us to achieve just that.”
Jeffrey Greenstein, in response to the partnership, emphasized the demand for content and the value of working with passionate and dedicated partners. He noted, “At a time when content is never more in demand, it’s exciting to partner with a group who is not only passionate about movies but who are also stepping up to distribute the types of commercial films that we believe audiences crave.”
Regarding release plans, no specific details from Ketchup Entertainment have been disclosed at this time, leaving audiences eagerly awaiting further updates.
In the upcoming reboot, Jack Kesy, known for his roles in “The Strain” and “Deadpool 2,” will portray the next incarnation of Hellboy, following in the footsteps of previous performers Ron Perlman and David Harbour. Jefferson White of “Yellowstone” fame will star as Tom Ferrell, while Adeline Rudolph, known for her role in “Resident Evil,” will take on the character of Bobbie Jo Song.
Brian Taylor, renowned for directing films like “Crank,” “Gamer,” “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance,” and “Mom and Dad,” helmed the movie for Millennium Media. The story is based on a Hellboy mini-series from 2008 and is expected to expand the Hellboy universe by revisiting one of the comic series’ most beloved issues.
The plot of “Hellboy: The Crooked Man” will transport Hellboy and a rookie BPRD agent to rural Appalachia in the 1950s. There, they encounter a small community plagued by witches, led by a local devil with a troubling connection to Hellboy’s past—the Crooked Man.
A noteworthy aspect of this project is that Hellboy’s creator, Mike Mignola, co-wrote the script alongside Christopher Golden, adding significant credibility to the film. Millennium Media is producing the new installment in collaboration with Dark Horse Entertainment, promising an exciting addition to the Hellboy cinematic universe.
