‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ Director Teases New Photos of Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga
During the holidays, we get a lot of gifts we don’t want, like enough Yankee candles to start multiple vanilla-scented forest fires. However, Todd Phillips is giving us a present we actually desire — photos from Joker: Folie à Deux.
On Christmas Day, Phillips posted photos on his Instagram from his upcoming sequel to Joker (2019.) Moreover, the beloved director teased us with an image of Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix) in a prison cell labeled “E258.” In addition, Phillips revealed a photo of Harley Quinn (Lady Gaga), softly glancing up at the aforementioned complicated hero.
Beneath the pictures, Phillips wrote: “Wishing everyone a happy holiday and a beautiful new year. Oct 2024 #Joker2.”
Phillips’ original psychological thriller depicted a mentally-ill, struggling stand-up comedian turned criminal mastermind. The film was a smash hit, generating $1 billion at the box office, which led to demand for a sequel.
So far, Phillips’ follow-up is shrouded in secrecy, but it’s rumored to be a musical, featuring a romance between Joker and Harley Quinn within the walls of Arkham Asylum. Together they experience “shared psychosis” or “Folie à Deux.”
Be sure to follow Phillips’ Instagram for more updates and get excited for Warner Bros.’ Joker: Folie à Deux, set to debut on October 4, 2024.
