From the creative minds of writer Michael Kennedy (known for “Freaky”) and director Tyler MacIntyre (“Tragedy Girls”) comes the thrilling Christmas slasher, “It’s a Wonderful Knife.” Canadian audiences are in for a treat as the film is set to have its Canadian Premiere at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival, taking place later this month from October 18 to 22.
Described as a fusion of “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “Scream,” this clip, courtesy of BD, offers a tantalizing glimpse of the Christmas movie’s slasher villain. It also features a cameo appearance from “The X-Files” veteran, William B. Davis. Discover his fate in the clip below.
Distributed by RLJE Films and Shudder, “It’s a Wonderful Knife” is set to hit theaters across the U.S. on November 10, with availability for streaming on Shudder at a later date.
The film’s storyline unfolds in the picturesque town of Angel Falls. A year after Winnie Carruthers (played by Jane Widdop, known for “Yellowjackets”) saved her town from a psychotic killer on Christmas Eve, her life has taken a turn for the worse. When she wishes she had never been born, she finds herself in a nightmarish parallel universe. In this alternate reality, she discovers that without her, things are far bleaker. Now, the killer has returned, and Winnie must join forces with the town misfit to unmask the killer and find her way back to her own reality.
“It’s a Wonderful Knife” boasts a stellar cast, with Joel McHale (“Community”) portraying Winnie’s father, David, and Justin Long (“Barbarian”) playing the town’s patron, Mr. Waters. The ensemble also includes Katharine Isabelle (“Ginger Snaps”), Jess McLeod (“One of Us Is Lying”), and Cassandra Naud (“Influencer”).
Michael Kennedy not only penned the script but also serves as a producer on the project.
Mark Ward, Chief Acquisitions Officer at RLJE Films, expressed enthusiasm about the film’s release, stating, “We’re excited to release ‘It’s a Wonderful Knife’ and once again work with its amazing cast and filmmakers. Over the last few years, we’ve been fortunate to have released horror/holiday films that have been embraced by audiences, and we believe this one is no exception.” Get ready for a thrilling holiday season with “It’s a Wonderful Knife.”
