Director Bishal Dutta’s chilling horror flick, “It Lives Inside,” has become a hotly anticipated movie for the latter half of 2023. Set to hit theaters on September 22, courtesy of NEON, the film has recently received a PG-13 rating for “Terror, violent content, bloody images, brief strong language, and teen drug use.”

The cast includes Megan Suri (“Never Have I Ever,” Missing), Neeru Bajwa (known for “Jatt & Juliet 1 & 2”), Mohana Krishnan, Vik Sahay (“Captain Marvel,” “Chuck”), and Betty Gabriel (“Get Out”).

The plot of “It Lives Inside” revolves around Sam, who is determined to fit in at school, leading her to reject her Indian heritage and family in favor of assimilating with her peers. However, when a malevolent mythological demon takes hold of her former best friend, Sam must confront her roots and embrace her cultural heritage to confront and vanquish the dark force.

The inspiration for this film originated from the filmmaker’s own childhood experiences, having been born in India and later raised in America. Drawing extensively from Indian demonic legends and personal family anecdotes, the story is a reflection of Dutta’s grandfather’s experiences. Dutta himself penned the original screenplay, based on a story co-crafted by Dutta and Ashish Mehta.

Raymond Mansfield and Sean McKittrick of QC Entertainment took on the production duties, alongside NEON. The film’s executive producers include Edward H. Hamm Jr, Jameson Parker, Arielle Voisvert, and Shawn Williamson.
