Is ‘Brightburn 2’ in the Works? The H Collective is Making Progress on a Sequel
It has been four years since the release of David Yarovesky’s “Brightburn,” a unique take on the Superman mythos, produced by James Gunn. This horror film delved into the origin story of the super-villain Brandon Breyer and managed to rake in over $33 million worldwide, all while working with a modest production budget of $6 million. With those numbers in mind, the question naturally arises: could a sequel be in the cards?
According to a recent report from Deadline, “The H Collective” is stepping into the picture with the launch of “H3 Entertainment,” a company determined to embrace the realms of the Metaverse, Web3, and AI in its film ventures.
The report from the site further reveals, “The company tells us it intends to incorporate new technology into the production process of projects it has in development, including a sequel to the horror movie Brightburn (the IP is co-owned by H Collective and fellow producer James Gunn).”
Mark Rau, the CEO of H3 Entertainment, offered insights into their approach, stating, “Incorporating new technologies into our workflow is about enhancing and complementing, not replacing the human touch in filmmaking. Our primary commitment remains with our skilled workforce. We are determined to use technology to assist, not overshadow, the irreplaceable human touch in cinema.”
“Brightburn,” a gruesome exploration of a super-villain’s emergence, featured a notable cast including Elizabeth Banks, David Denman, and Jackson A. Dunn. It posed a provocative question: What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, only to evolve into something far more malevolent than a hero to mankind?
The closing scenes of “Brightburn” tantalized audiences, hinting at the existence of other super-powered individuals beyond Brandon. The potential for endless sequels is unmistakable.
As we eagerly anticipate more information on the possibility of “Brightburn 2,” stay tuned for updates. The blending of cutting-edge technology with this intriguing narrative promises an exciting cinematic future.
