In its second weekend of release, the fifth installment of the Insidious franchise, ‘Insidious: The Red Door,’ has secured the #3 position on the domestic box office charts. While facing tough competition from the chart-topping debut of ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One,’ the performance of ‘Insidious: The Red Door’ remains impressive, as it has officially crossed the $100 million milestone.

Globally, the film has accumulated an impressive $122,585,554, with $58 million of that coming from the United States. The international box office tally currently stands at $64.5 million.

The current worldwide record for the Insidious franchise is held by ‘Insidious: The Last Key’ at $167.8 million. Thus, ‘Insidious: The Red Door’ has set its sights on surpassing this benchmark.

Will ‘The Red Door’ become the highest-grossing film in the Insidious franchise in the weeks to come? The box office charts will be closely monitored, so stay tuned.

It is worth noting that ‘The Red Door’ had a production budget of just $16 million, allowing the fifth installment to achieve profitability within a matter of days.

The decision to revisit and focus on the Lambert family once again appears to have paid off, with audiences flocking to theaters to witness a direct continuation of the first two Insidious movies. ‘The Red Door’ can be considered a “legacy sequel” of sorts, and it’s remarkable to realize that Insidious Nostalgia has already become a significant aspect of the franchise.

Thirteen years have passed since the franchise’s inception, leaving us to wonder where the time has gone. But the more pressing question arises: What lies ahead for the Insidious franchise? A spinoff has already been announced, titled ‘Thread: An Insidious Tale,’ featuring Mandy Moore and Kumail Nanjiani in starring roles.

According to Deadline, the storyline revolves around a husband and wife (Nanjiani and Moore) who employ a spell to travel back in time, determined to prevent the death of their young daughter. As expected, the consequences prove to be severe.

‘Screen Gems,’ ‘Blumhouse,’ and James Wan’s ‘Atomic Monster’ are collaborating to bring the franchise’s first spinoff to life. Jeremy Slater, known for his work on ‘The Exorcist’ and ‘Moon Knight,’ is directing the film and has also penned the screenplay for ‘Thread: An Insidious Tale.’
