This Friday marks the theatrical release of director Lee Cronin’s brand-new film Evil Dead Rise. This week is known as “Evil Dead Week.”

One of the bloodiest movies I’ve ever seen was Fede Alvarez’s Evil Dead (2013), and its latest sequel seems to be following pace. It will be a complete massacre…

A mother and her daughter are imprisoned in an elevator while a pool of blood spills in this exclusive footage. A reference to Sam Raimi’s original trilogy’s tagline, “Dead by dawn,” is being chanted by the Deadites as they creep in from above. In a clear nod to The Shining, the footage concludes with the elevator doors bursting open and TONS OF BLOOD spilling out.

“In the fifth installment of the Evil Dead series, a weary Beth makes a long-delayed visit to her older sister Ellie, who is responsible for raising three children alone in a small L.A. apartment. The sisters’ reunion is interrupted when a mysterious book found deep inside Ellie’s building summons flesh-eating demons and forces Beth to engage in the most terrifying form of motherhood possible in a primitive struggle for survival.

Alongside Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan, Gabrielle Echols (Reminiscence), Morgan Davies (The End), and Nell Fisher (Splendid Isolation) play the lead roles.

Evil Dead Rise is a project from producers Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and Robert Tapert.
