At this year’s Sundance, one of the most buzzed-about horror films was “In a Violent Nature,” a distinctive arthouse slasher that provides a chilling perspective by framing the murders through the eyes of the killer.
Presented by the streaming service Shudder, the upcoming horror movie delves into “the enigmatic resurrection, rampage, and retribution of an undead monster in a remote wilderness.”
Take a glimpse into the eerie world of “In a Violent Nature” with the official teaser trailer above.
The film’s premise revolves around the removal of a locket from a collapsed fire tower in the woods, enclosing the decaying body of Johnny. Triggered by a heinous 60-year-old crime, Johnny’s resurrected form is determined to retrieve the locket. The undead creature targets a group of vacationing teens responsible for the theft, methodically slaughtering them one by one in his relentless pursuit.
Written and directed by Chris Nash, “In a Violent Nature” features a cast including Ry Barrett, Andrea Pavlovic, Cameron Love, Reece Presley, Liam Leone, Charlotte Creaghan, Lea Rose Sebastianis, Sam Roulston, Alexander Oliver, and Lauren Taylor.
“In a Violent Nature is a tremendous new slasher. We’re thrilled for you to meet Johnny, whose reign of terror honors the iconic subgenre while taking audiences on a singular and brutal new journey within it,” expressed Samuel Zimmerman, Shudder’s vice president of programming. “Chris Nash’s bold perspective represents the best of Shudder, marrying the genre’s traditions with its exhilarating next steps.”
While the release date is yet to be announced, the film is expected to hit screens in 2024.
