‘Immaculate’: Sydney Sweeney’s Horror Flick Receives an “R” Rating for Bloody Violence and Nudity

Sydney Sweeney, known for her roles in “The White Lotus” and “Euphoria,” takes the lead in NEON’s psychological horror feature, “Immaculate,” which received an “R” rating from the MPA this week.

The rating is attributed to the film’s “strong and bloody violent content, grisly images, nudity, and some language.” Set to hit theaters exclusively on March 22, 2024, “Immaculate” reunites Sweeney with director Michael Mohan, who previously worked together on “The Voyeurs.” The screenplay was penned by Andrew Lobel.

In “Immaculate,” Sweeney portrays Cecilia, a woman deeply devoted to her faith, who accepts a promising opportunity at a prestigious Italian convent. However, her idyllic arrival in the Italian countryside takes a dark turn as Cecilia uncovers unsettling secrets lurking within the convent’s walls.

The cast includes Simona Tabasco (“The White Lotus”), Alvaro Morte (“Money Heist”), Benedetta Porcaroli (“Baby”), and Dora Romano (“The Hand of God”).

Produced by Fifty-Fifty Films, led by Sweeney and Jonathan Davino, alongside David Bernad, who collaborated with Sweeney on “The White Lotus,” the film is also supported by Teddy Schwarzman and Michael Heimler of Black Bear. John Friedberg and Christopher Casanova of Black Bear, along with Will Greenfield (“Euphoria”), serve as executive producers.
