Harvey Guillén and a Talented Cast Join Forces in a Sci-fi Horror Film by the ‘Barbarian’ Team, Titled ‘Companion’
Sci-Fi Horror Flick ‘Companion’ Adds Harvey Guillén, Lukas Gage, and Megan Suri to Cast
Exciting news for horror fans as the highly anticipated sci-fi horror film, “Companion,” continues to gain momentum. The movie, produced by Zach Cregger of “Barbarian” fame, was first announced in February and has now welcomed a trio of talented actors to its cast. Joining the previously announced Jack Quaid (“Scream”), the latest additions include Harvey Guillén from “What We Do in the Shadows,” Lukas Gage known for his role in “You,” and Megan Suri from “It Lives Inside.”
“Companion,” helmed by director Drew Hancock, marks his directorial debut and screenwriting venture. While plot details are currently being kept under wraps, the film has generated significant buzz, with New Line Cinema winning the rights to the project after a fierce bidding war earlier this year. Initially intended as the follow-up to “Barbarian” for BoulderLight Productions and Zach Cregger, the filmmaker decided to shift focus to his script, “Weapons,” which is also in the casting phase and being produced by New Line. Despite this change, the “Barbarian” team played a pivotal role in securing “Companion” a home and greenlighting production, demonstrating their confidence in Drew Hancock’s directorial capabilities.
Alongside Zach Cregger, Raphael Margules, and J.D. Lifshitz from BoulderLight Productions, Roy Lee from Vertigo will be serving as producer for the project. Additionally, Tracy Rosenblum of BoulderLight and Andrew Childs of Vertigo will take on executive producer roles.
In other related news, New Line Cinema recently entered a first-look deal with BoulderLight Pictures, the production company behind “Barbarian.” This collaboration aims to develop “high concept” genre films for the studio, as they hope to usher in a new era of thrilling entertainment. Keep an eye out for more exciting updates from BoulderLight throughout the year as they establish themselves as a creative force in the genre film landscape.
