Halle Berry to Star in Psychological Thriller ‘The Process’ Centered on a Self-Help Cult
Tara Miele is set to direct the upcoming thriller “The Process,” according to a recent report from Deadline. The film will also feature Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry in a leading role, with Berry taking on a producing role as well.
“Deadline reports that FilmNation Entertainment will handle the film’s international sales at the American Film Market, with Verve Ventures and WME Independent jointly representing North American distribution rights.”
The storyline delves into the lives of a seemingly content married couple who attend a weekend seminar hosted by Aiden, a renowned self-help guru. During the seminar, they are prompted to reflect on their individual lives, careers, and ultimately, their marriage. However, their relationship and sanity are swiftly tested when Kirsa resists Aiden’s “process” and his devoted band of volunteers, while Peter fully embraces it.
The screenplay for “The Process” was crafted by Levin Menekse and originally gained recognition on the Black List.
Producers Robert Kravis and Karl Herrmann from Pioneer Pictures expressed their excitement, stating, “We are thrilled to be working with Halle Berry to bring Levin’s amazing screenplay to the screen. Tara’s vision for the film—a Kubrickian psychological thriller exploring the complexities of self-help cults, and Halle’s portrayal of Kirsa—the character struggling to protect her marriage and her sanity amidst an oppressive cult of personality, will captivate audiences.”
Tara Miele, the director, shared her enthusiasm for the project, saying, “It’s so rare to find a script like Levin Menekse’s ‘The Process’ that is gripping, emotionally resonant, and feels essential in this moment. I’m thrilled to bring this gem to life and collaborate with Halle Berry, who not only brings a raw and authentic presence to the screen as an actress but is also an astute and thoughtful producer.”
