Gina Philips Returns to Horror in ‘The Monster’ Starring Lauren LaVera
Up next from director Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II-IV, Abattoir, Spiral) is horror movie The Monster, and Deadline brings us a casting update on the project this week.
For starters, Paramount’s Republic Pictures label has boarded worldwide rights on the film. Additionally, Gina Philips (Jeepers Creepers) has signed on to co-star in The Monster.
As Deadline notes in their report, this will mark Gina Philips’ first on-screen role in eight years. In addition to playing Trish alongside Justin Long in Jeepers Creepers, Philips’ horror credits also include Deadly Invasion: The Killer Bee Nightmare (1995), and Dead & Breakfast (2004).
“I’m a horror movie fanatic,” Gina Philips is credited as once saying in her IMDb bio.
Philips will star alongside Lauren LaVera (Terrifier 2, Terrifier 3) in The Monster. The film’s cast also includes Djimon Hounsou (A Quiet Place), Mia Healey (The Wilds), Jacob Lukas Anderson, Alicia Witt (Longlegs) and Neal McDonough (Band Of Brothers).
Deadline details this week, “The Monster follows two millennials who make quick money by leasing incredible New York City apartments they don’t own to people who don’t know they are being scammed.” The film’s official plot synopsis continues, “The con works brilliantly until they run into an apartment owner with a dark secret who flips the game on them.”
Michael Lombardi, David Call, Victor Del Rio, Cedric Benjamin, Zac Jaffee, Renés Rivera, Hari Bhaskar, and Kristina Krasniqi will also star in the upcoming horror film.
Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer (Unsane) wrote the screenplay.
