Freya Allan from “The Witcher” Set to Headline Fantasy Horror Film ‘Triton’
Filming is currently underway in Athens, Greece for the new fantasy horror movie, Triton. According to THR, Freya Allan, known for her role in “The Witcher,” has been chosen as the lead for this horror thriller.
Directed by Janell Shirtcliff, Triton is expected to draw heavily from Greek mythology, promising an intriguing blend of fantasy and horror elements. The storyline revolves around three young women on vacation in Greece who encounter three enigmatic young men with mysterious intentions.
Joining Freya Allan in this venture are Josh Whitehouse, Raff Law, Elsie Hewitt, Thalia Besson, and musician Malcolm McRae, who are all set to play pivotal roles in the film.
The movie is based on a story crafted by Shirtcliff and Angie Simms, with Simms also handling the screenplay. Given Triton’s roots in Greek mythology, one can’t help but speculate about the possibility of aquatic horrors surfacing in the narrative—could killer mermen make an appearance?
While details about the project remain scarce, Freya Allan seems to be diving deeper into the horror genre. Her upcoming ventures include Baghead from Studiocanal, where she confronts a mysterious witch in a basement, slated for release next month. Additionally, she is set to appear in the 2024 film Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
Janell Shirtcliff, known for her directorial debut in the crime thriller Habit starring Bella Thorne and Gavin Rossdale, is at the helm of Triton.
The movie’s production and financing are handled by Brad Feinstein at Romulus Entertainment, with Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Range, Adonis Tountas, and Everlast Pictures taking on production responsibilities. Fred Berger and Casey Durant at Range are executive producers, along with Ioannis Meramveliotakis. Alex O’Neal’s company, 24FPS, is also involved as an executive producer, alongside Josh Glick and Zac Frognowski.
