Earlier this week, it was announced that a new untitled spinoff movie from the Evil Dead franchise is in the works, with French filmmaker Sébastien Vaniček (known for “Infested”) set to direct.

While details about the sixth installment in the Evil Dead film series are scarce at this stage, Vaniček shared some insights with Konbini.

Describing his vision for The Evil Dead, Vaniček emphasized a commitment to intense terror, a hallmark of the franchise since its inception. He aims to deliver a film that leaves audiences emotionally tested and cathartic, promising to infuse it with all the horror he can muster.

“I told the studio that I wanted to make a nasty film, a film that hurts, from which you come away tested,” Vaniček stated, suggesting his suitability for the project. “I’m going to put all the horror I have inside, it will be cathartic, and if I haven’t ruined my career and I can continue to make films behind it, I will move on to something other than horror!”

As for the release timeline, Vaniček mentioned, “If all goes well, we could start filming at the end of 2024-beginning of 2025, for a release that I hope for Halloween 2025.”

He also highlighted that he has been granted “100% creative freedom” by Sam Raimi and his team to explore the Evil Dead universe, aiming to infuse his film with a “French twist.”

Stay tuned for further updates on the sixth Evil Dead movie as more information becomes available.
