The resurgence of slasher movies is clearly evident, and the latest addition to the genre has caught our attention. Deadline has provided an exclusive first look at “Camp Pleasant Lake,” which has just received a release date. DeskPop Entertainment is set to unveil the 1980s-inspired slasher in select theaters and on VOD on February 27. The film is directed by Thomas Walton.

“Camp Pleasant Lake” unfolds the story of Rick and Darlene Rutherford, who embark on revitalizing an old campsite without knowing its grim history. The area is plagued by strange occurrences reminiscent of the tragic events from two decades prior when a young girl was kidnapped, and her parents were brutally murdered.

Caught in chilling atmospheres and long-buried secrets, the couple is confronted with a horrifying revelation—they are entwined in the camp’s dark history. As the shadows of the past merge with the present, the Rutherfords must confront the haunting histories of a sinister crime.

The cast features a lineup of familiar faces, including Jonathan Lipnicki (“Jerry Maguire”), Bonnie Aarons (“The Nun 1/2”), Andrew Divoff (“Wishmaster 1/2”), Michael Paré (“Eddie and the Cruisers”), Kelly Lynn Reiter, Robert LaSardo (“Death Race”), Maritza Brikisak, and Greg Tally.

Director Thomas Walton expressed his pleasure in collaborating with the DeskPop team for the release of “Camp Pleasant Lake.” He shared, “We’ve crafted an intense, frightening, and entertaining experience, and we’re excited for horror enthusiasts to come together in cinemas and VOD and relish the twists and turns we’ve brought to life.”
