Exclusive Update: Casting and Director Revealed for ‘Bambi: The Reckoning’ Horror Film
Coming from the creative minds behind the unsettling ‘Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey,’ prepare for another iconic childhood tale turned chilling in ‘Bambi: The Reckoning.’
This week we revealed the key cast members for this upcoming horror reimagining. Roxanne McKee (‘Wrong Turn 5’) takes the lead role in ‘Bambi: The Reckoning,’ alongside Nicola Wright and Tom Mulheron. Adding to the lineup is Samira Mighty (‘Beauty and the Beast’).
Scheduled to commence filming on January 6, 2024, in England, the film eyes a release in Fall 2024.
The story centers on Xana (portrayed by Roxanne McKee) and her son Benji (played by Tom Mulheron), who, following a car accident, become targets of the merciless and lethal entity known as Bambi.
Director Dan Allen (‘Unhinged’) offers a glimpse, teasing, “It’s going to be a terrifying experience. After this film, encountering a deer in the wild might send people running for safety. This movie dismantles childhood innocence. Expect a spectacle of gore, heartache, fluffy bunnies… and one extraordinarily lethal deer. Finally, the British countryside gets its own Godzilla.”
‘Bambi: The Reckoning’ is part of a broader fairy tale-inspired universe. Another project, ‘Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare,’ helmed by Scott Jeffrey and set to explore a twisted rendition of Tinkerbell, is scheduled for filming this summer. More ventures within this dark universe are on the horizon.
Hailing from ITN Studios and Jagged Edge Productions, ‘Bambi: The Reckoning’ is penned by Rhys Warrington, produced by Scott Jeffrey and Rhys Frake-Waterfield under Jagged Edge Productions, with ITN Studios overseeing sales.
The adaptation draws from Felix Salten’s 1923 novel ‘Bambi, a Life in the Woods,’ now in the public domain as of 2023, granting the team creative freedom to morph it into a horror spectacle.
As developments continue to unfold, stay tuned for more spine-tingling updates on this eerie transformation of a beloved classic.
