As part of this year’s extensive AMC FearFest lineup, one film that’s generating considerable buzz is “The Puppetman,” a Shudder Original set to start streaming on Shudder beginning Friday, October 13.

Recently honored with the Popcorn Frights Jury Award for Best Feature, “The Puppetman” is set to captivate audiences on both Shudder and AMC+. You can exclusively watch the official trailer below, but beware – you might not be in control…

Written and directed by Brandon Christensen, known for works like “Z,” “Superhost,” and “Still/Born,” this upcoming horror flick boasts a talented cast including Michael Paré, Caryn Richman, and Alyson Gorske.

In “The Puppetman,” the central narrative revolves around a convicted killer who resides on death row. He’s always maintained his innocence, attributing his heinous crimes to an evil force that took control of his body during the brutal slayings.

Now, Michal, the killer’s daughter, begins to entertain the unsettling possibility that her father’s claim might hold some truth. This realization dawns upon her as those in her vicinity meet gruesome and inexplicable fates. With all hope resting on her shoulders, she must confront the malevolent curse of “The Puppetman.”

Director Brandon Christensen described “The Puppetman” as a film that harks back to classics like “Final Destination,” where a group of friends becomes the canvas for horrifying deaths. The development of characters and their subsequent descent into gruesome circumstances became a thrilling creative endeavor for the filmmakers. Christensen expressed gratitude to Shudder for allowing them to push the boundaries of horror, taking the concept of killing off characters to new, grotesque heights in “The Puppetman.”

The film was produced by Matt Manjourides and Justin Martell, with Ryan Christensen serving as a co-writer alongside Brandon, and Seager Dixon taking on the role of co-producer. As anticipation builds for its release, “The Puppetman” promises to be a chilling addition to the horror genre that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
