Exclusive Teaser for ‘Somewhere Quiet’ Explores Post-Survival Paranoia of the Final Girl”
Olivia West Lloyd, the writer/director of the highly anticipated film “Somewhere Quiet,” delves into the uncharted territory of what happens to the Final Girl after the credits roll.
As the world eagerly awaits the film’s world premiere at the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival, Bloody Disgusting is thrilled to unveil an exclusive teaser trailer that offers a glimpse into the eerie atmosphere and lingering paranoia that accompany the aftermath of surviving a traumatic experience.
In “Somewhere Quiet,” we follow the story of Meg, who, months after escaping a brutal kidnapping, embarks on a journey with her husband, Scott, to his family’s secluded compound in Cape Cod. Seeking solace in the quietude of early winter, Meg hopes to heal and reconnect with Scott. However, their peaceful retreat takes a sinister turn when they realize they are not alone on the property. Madelin, Scott’s charismatic yet intrusive cousin, is staying nearby. To Meg’s surprise, Scott and Madelin share a close bond, and soon, Meg finds herself unable to escape Madelin’s pervasive presence. With each passing day, the couple’s already fragile relationship crumbles, while Meg is tormented by haunting nightmares, visions of a mysterious elderly woman lurking in the woods, and a growing suspicion that Scott and Madelin are hiding something from her.
As tensions escalate within the house, Meg’s behavior becomes increasingly reckless, setting off a series of disturbing events that shatter the fragile veneer of civility between her and the cousins. Through subtle manipulation and escalating confrontations, Scott and Madelin unveil their troubling history, and Meg uncovers the truth about her abduction.
The cast of “Somewhere Quiet” includes talented actors Jennifer Kim (known for “She Dies Tomorrow”), Kentucker Audley (featured in “V/H/S” and “She Dies Tomorrow”), Marin Ireland (notable for “The Boogeyman” and “The Dark and the Wicked”), and Micheál Neeson.
In a director’s statement, Olivia West Lloyd shared, “The idea for ‘Somewhere Quiet’ began to take shape after I watched an incredibly intense horror film. The final scene depicted a blood-soaked girl, the sole survivor while her companions perished, waiting for the arrival of the police. However, that ending didn’t feel conclusive to me. I pondered what happens to the girl who survives. If she’s fortunate, she gets to return home. For a brief moment, everyone rallies around her—family, friends, and the media. But gradually, they all move on with their lives, consumed by their own daily routines. The news forgets about her, chasing new tragedies to obsess over. She is left to confront the mundane, forever burdened by the memories of her life-altering past.”
The highly anticipated world premiere of “Somewhere Quiet” will take place tomorrow night at the Tribeca Film Festival, followed by additional screenings on June 9 and June 14. Tickets for the festival are now available, offering audiences the chance to immerse themselves in this captivating exploration of the aftermath of survival.
