In an exciting milestone for writer/director Mary Dauterman, her debut film “Booger” is set to take audiences on a mesmerizing journey that combines the grotesque with the sweet. As the film prepares for its highly anticipated world premiere at the Fantasia International Film Festival we take a look at images that hint at the thrilling and transformative ride awaiting viewers.

The story follows Anna (portrayed by Grace Glowicki) who, after her deceased friend’s cat, Booger, goes missing, becomes consumed with finding him despite her life and body spiraling out of control. Dauterman’s “Booger” defies conventional genres, offering a psychedelic, funny, and grotesque experience that delves into themes of grief and the profound depth of female friendships. With confidence and emotional depth, the film seamlessly weaves a shocking mix of elements that will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on its audience.

Dauterman describes “Booger” as a “disgusting comedy about grief” or a “body horror that’s funny and sad,” capturing the essence of its multi-faceted nature. The film takes viewers on a nuanced journey exploring the joys of friendship, the pain of loss, and the arduous search for inner equilibrium in the aftermath of a crisis.

The talented ensemble cast includes Garrick Bernard, Marcia Debonis, Sofia Dobrushin, and the revered Heather Matarazzo, known for her roles in cult favorites such as “Welcome to the Dollhouse” and “Scream.” Alongside them, Glowicki delivers a standout performance, showcasing her versatility in various on-camera projects.

“Booger” is produced by Lexi Tannenholtz, known for her work on Shudder’s “Bad Things,” and executive produced by Neon Heart Productions, Ley Line Entertainment, Sanctuary Content, One Two Twenty Entertainment, and Lizzie Shapiro.

The film is set to debut at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal, Quebec, with its world premiere scheduled for Monday, July 24, and a repeat screening on Wednesday, July 26. Fans eagerly await the reviews and release details as anticipation builds for this daring and genre-defying thriller.
