Despite being the fourth film in the Hell House LLC series, writer/director Stephen Cognetti emphasizes that “The Carmichael Manor” is not a traditional ‘part 4’ or prequel. Instead, it weaves an original story within the Hell House LLC universe while setting it in the present day, rather than serving as a precursor to the original trilogy. Cognetti’s creative vision for “The Carmichael Manor” allowed him to delve into the rich mythology of the hotel, explore its origins, introduce new characters, and unravel mysteries surrounding the events of 1989 within a stand-alone origin story. This is just one of several origin stories Cognetti hopes to craft.
Set in 2021, the story follows a group of internet sleuths who embark on a journey to the remote Carmichael Manor. Nestled deep in the woods of Rockland County, New York, the estate was the site of the infamous unsolved Carmichael family murders in 1989. What awaits them are secrets concealed for decades and a terror that has lurked in the shadows long before the Hell House.
The film is produced by Joe Bandelli, with Joe Dain and Jim Klock serving as executive producers for Terror Films Releasing. “Hell House LLC Origins: The Carmichael Manor” will be accessible to Shudder and AMC+ subscribers in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, Spain, and Portugal.
