Danny Boyle and Alex Garland, the dynamic duo behind the iconic “28 Days Later,” are teaming up once again for the highly anticipated sequel trilogy, “28 Years Later.” This week, Deadline unveiled the latest addition to the cast for the inaugural film.

Erin Kellyman, known for her roles in “The Green Knight” and “Willow,” is set to join the ensemble of “28 Years Later.”

Scheduled to hit theaters on June 20, 2025, courtesy of Sony Pictures, “28 Years Later” boasts a star-studded lineup. Alongside Kellyman, the cast features Jack O’Connell (“Amy Winehouse: Back To Black”), Jodie Comer (“Alone in the Dark,” “Killing Eve”), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (“Kraven the Hunter”), and Ralph Fiennes (“The Menu”).

Adding to the excitement, Cillian Murphy, the lead in the original film, is reportedly returning to executive produce and reprise his role.

Alex Garland will pen the script for the first film, with Boyle returning to the director’s chair. Nia DaCosta (“Candyman,” “The Marvels”) is set to helm the second installment under the banner of Sony Pictures.

The groundbreaking original, released in 2002, starred Murphy and was crafted by Garland and Boyle. Set against the backdrop of a post-apocalyptic UK ravaged by a devastating virus, the film follows a group of survivors as they navigate the desolate landscape in search of refuge.
