Emma Stone Stars in ‘Poor Things,’ Oscar-Nominated Film Coming Home in February
Yorgos Lanthimos’ acclaimed film “Poor Things,” which has garnered eleven Oscar nominations including Best Motion Picture of the Year, is set to hit home screens in just a couple of weeks, as announced this morning.
Starting February 27, audiences can digitally purchase or rent “Poor Things,” with the Blu-ray release following on March 12.
According to Variety, both the digital and physical versions will feature extensive bonus content, offering viewers an insider’s look into the making of this fantastical film. This includes a featurette with Emma Stone, Yorgos Lanthimos, and the rest of the cast and crew, providing behind-the-scenes insights into the production process. Additionally, viewers can expect to explore the film’s intricate costumes, makeup, prosthetics, and meticulously designed sets. The releases will also include a collection of deleted scenes.
“Poor Things” stars Emma Stone alongside Willem Dafoe in a Frankenstein-inspired narrative adapted from Alasdair Gray’s 1992 novel. The ensemble cast also includes Ramy Youssef, Jerrod Carmichael, Christopher Abbott, and Mark Ruffalo.
The film follows the extraordinary journey of Bella Baxter (Stone), a young woman resurrected by the brilliant yet unconventional scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Dafoe). As Bella embarks on a whirlwind adventure with the enigmatic lawyer Duncan Wedderburn (Ruffalo), she confronts societal norms and advocates for equality and liberation.
“Poor Things” has been given an “R” rating for its depiction of strong and pervasive sexual content, graphic nudity, disturbing material, gore, and language.
This project marks a reunion between Stone and Lanthimos, following their collaboration on the critically acclaimed period comedy “The Favourite.” Tony McNamara, screenwriter of “The Great” and “Cruella,” also contributed to the screenplay.
