‘Retro Sci-Fi Thriller ‘Divinity,’ Executive Produced by Steven Soderbergh, Gears Up for Nationwide Theatrical Release
The sci-fi thriller ‘Divinity,’ boasting Steven Soderbergh as its executive producer, recently made its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and is now set for a wide theatrical release later this week.
Distributed by Utopia and Sumerian, ‘Divinity’ is scheduled to open in theaters across the nation on Friday, November 3, following its earlier limited theatrical screenings in New York and Los Angeles.
While you eagerly await the release, we invite you to watch the exclusive RED BAND trailer for ‘Divinity’ aobve. It’s a trailer brimming with captivating and audacious visuals, but we must emphasize that it is most definitely not safe for a workplace environment.
The collaboration between Utopia and Sumerian to acquire the film from Sundance is an exciting venture that transcends traditional boundaries. Both entities expressed their enthusiasm for ‘Divinity,’ noting that the film represents a dynamic intersection of film, music, fashion, and art. They believe this partnership marks the inception of a new era, where narratives seamlessly transcend the screen, merging with the integral components that define a film’s essence.
‘Divinity’ is the brainchild of Eddie Alcazar, who wrote and directed the film. The plot unfolds in an otherworldly setting, focusing on scientist Sterling Pierce (Scott Bakula), whose life’s work revolves around the pursuit of immortality. He painstakingly engineers the foundation of a groundbreaking serum named “Divinity.” Now, Sterling’s son, Jaxxon Pierce (Stephen Dorff), oversees the production and distribution of his father’s once-noble ambition.
However, the society in this desolate realm has been irrevocably twisted by the dominance of the enigmatic drug, the origins of which remain veiled in mystery. The narrative takes an intriguing turn when two enigmatic brothers (Moises Arias and Jason Genao) arrive with a bold plan to abduct the influential mogul. With the assistance of the alluring Nikita (Karrueche Tran), they embark on a journey toward genuine immortality.
Bella Thorne also graces the film with her presence, and it features a soundtrack curated by DJ Muggs and Dean Hurley.
