Despite his character meeting a tragic end a few years ago, it seems death doesn’t stick in the Scream franchise. Deadline reports that David Arquette is officially returning for Scream 7!

Arquette’s beloved character, Dewey Riley, was killed off in Scream (2022), but Deadline confirms that he will reprise the role in the upcoming film.

The return of Arquette as Dewey, along with Matthew Lillard as Stu Macher and Scott Foley as Roman Bridger, raises plenty of questions. How exactly will these characters return after their deaths? Scream 7 continues to get more unpredictable with every reveal.

Details about the plot and how Arquette’s Dewey will come back are being kept under wraps, but Deadline confirms that all three characters will return in surprising ways. The film is slated for release in theaters on February 27, 2026.

Interestingly, Dewey’s death in Scream (2022) came at the hands of Amber Freeman, played by Mikey Madison, who recently made history as the first Ghostface actor to win an Academy Award.

Neve Campbell will also return as Sidney Prescott, joined by Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers. Alongside them, franchise favorites Matthew Lillard, Scott Foley, Mason Gooding, and Jasmin Savoy Brown will reprise their roles.

Newcomers to the franchise include Celeste O’Connor (Ghostbusters: Afterlife), Mckenna Grace (Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire), Sam Rechner (The Fabelmans), Asa Germann (The Boys), Anna Camp (Hysteria!), Isabel May (1883), Mark Consuelos, Ethan Embry (The Devil’s Candy), and Joel McHale (It’s a Wonderful Knife), who will play Sidney’s husband, Mark Evans.

The film is being directed by Scream series writer Kevin Williamson.
