Daisy Edgar-Jones (Hulu’s Fresh) will star in the upcoming big-screen sequel to the 1996 action-adventure film Twister, according to a Deadline story today.
Movie director Lee Isaac Chung (Minari) is attached to the project.
On July 19, 2024, Twisters (Yes, Twisters) will be released in theaters.
In the sequel, which is rumored to focus on the daughter of the characters Hunt and the late Bill Paxton played in the first movie, it was hoped that Helen Hunt would return.
The script for the next film was written by Mark L. Smith (The Revenant).
Bill and Jo Harding (Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt), expert storm chasers on the verge of a divorce, were the main characters in the original movie. They had to work together to establish an enhanced weather alert system by putting themselves in the path of extremely dangerous tornadoes.
The 1996 film, directed by Jan de Bont, received two Academy Award nominations and grossed a whopping $495 million worldwide. Frank Marshall will produce the follow-up.
