Prepare for an epic clash between live-streaming influencers and a Satanic haunting in the thrilling screenlife horror-comedy, #ChadGetsTheAxe. The newly released trailer guarantees an electrifying blend of scares and laughs that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
Set to be released by Entertainment Squad’s genre label, The Horror Collective, #ChadGetsTheAxe is scheduled to hit major on-demand and digital platforms on September 1, much to the delight of horror enthusiasts.
Adapted from an award-winning short film of the same title, the story revolves around four social media influencers who embark on a live-streamed journey to Devil’s Manor, the former dwelling of a Satanic Cult. However, their trip takes a sinister turn, and as the violence escalates, so does the viewership of their live stream.
Directed by Travis Bible, who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Kemerton Hargrove, #ChadGetsTheAxe features a talented cast, including Spencer Harrison Levin, Michael Bonini, Taneisha Figueroa, Cameron Vitosh, Brandon Doyle, and Shun Hagins.
Commenting on the film’s thematic elements, Shaked Berenson, CEO of Entertainment Squad, praised it as a commentary on influencer culture and the quest for fame, making it an ideal fit for The Horror Collective’s audience. It serves as an excellent follow-up to Jeff Ryan’s Mean Spirited, another successful Frightfest favorite released earlier that year.
Director Travis Bible expressed excitement about sharing the film with a wider audience, having witnessed the positive reception and lively reactions from festival crowds.
#ChadGetsTheAxe made its debut at FilmQuest in October 2022 and received international acclaim at FrightFest Glasgow in March 2023, garnering appreciation from critics and horror enthusiasts alike.
Produced by Travis Bible, Eric Gibson, Kemerton Hargrove, and Frances O’Hanlon, with Dream Big Group serving as executive producers, this screenlife horror-comedy took two years to come to fruition. Frances O’Hanlon, a partner in New Orleans based Dream Big Group, emphasized the importance of supporting filmmakers with unique perspectives and creative visions, highlighting the collaborative and fulfilling journey of bringing this film to life.
