Following the success of the Oscar-winning film Parasite, director Bong Joon-ho is set to return with his latest project, the sci-fi thriller Mickey 17. However, the film has faced several delays in its release schedule.

Initially slated for March 29, 2024, Mickey 17 has once again been pushed back, this time to January 31, 2025.

The movie stars Robert Pattinson alongside Toni Collette, Steven Yeun, Mark Ruffalo, and Naomi Ackie. It is adapted from Edward Ashton’s 2022 novel of the same name.

Here’s a brief synopsis of Ashton’s book:

Mickey7 is an “Expendable,” a disposable worker sent on a mission to colonize the ice world Niflheim. Whenever a task is deemed too perilous, Mickey is the one sent in. Each time he dies, he is regenerated with most of his memories intact. But after several iterations, Mickey7 begins to understand the true nature of his existence.

During a routine scouting mission, Mickey7 goes missing and is presumed dead. When he returns, he discovers that a replacement clone, Mickey8, has taken his place. Facing the challenges of survival on Niflheim, Mickey7 must keep the existence of his duplicate a secret while navigating the dangerous terrain and the growing curiosity of the native species.

As tensions rise and the struggle for survival intensifies, Mickey7 finds himself at the center of a battle for the future of life on Niflheim.

Mickey 17 promises to be a gripping sci-fi thriller that explores themes of identity, survival, and the human condition in the face of adversity.
