Blumhouse’s Remake of ‘Speak No Evil’ Set for September Release
Blumhouse and Universal are bringing the spine-chilling Danish horror film, “Speak No Evil,” to the U.S. with a remake, and there’s a new release date announced this week.
Initially slated for an August 9, 2024 theatrical release, the Speak No Evil remake will now hit U.S. theaters on September 13, 2024.
The “R”-rated remake is categorized for “some strong violence, language, some sexual content, and brief drug use.”
While anticipation builds for a trailer, the original movie’s trailer is available for viewing.
Directed by James Watkins (known for “The Woman in Black” and “Eden Lake”), the Speak No Evil remake stars Mackenzie Davis (“Terminator: Dark Fate,” “Happiest Season”) and James McAvoy (“Split,” “Glass”). Scoot McNairy (“Argo”) is also part of the cast.
The original 2022 movie, directed by Christian Tafdrup, follows a Danish family’s visit to a Dutch family they met on holiday. What was intended as an idyllic weekend begins to unravel as the Danes navigate politeness in the face of unpleasantness.
James Watkins is not only directing but also penned the script for the Speak No Evil remake.
Jason Blum will produce for Blumhouse, with Paul Ritchie, Christian Tafdrup, Jacob Jarek, and Bea Sequeira serving as Executive Producers.
