Larry Fessenden, known for his works like “Habit” and “Depraved,” returns with his latest horror offering, “Blackout,” featuring a werewolf tale that promises to grip audiences. The film’s official trailer, along with release details, has been unveiled today.

“Blackout” will have its exclusive theatrical premiere in New York City on March 13th at the IFC Center, followed by a wider release on Digital/VOD platforms starting April 12, 2024. The NYC engagement will feature special cast appearances and a Q&A session, offering fans a unique experience.

This collaboration marks the second partnership between Glass Eye Pix, Fessenden’s production company, and Yellow Veil Pictures, known for their successful world sales of Fessenden’s previous film, “Depraved,” released by IFC Midnight in the US.

The story follows Charley (played by Alex Hurt), a troubled artist in a small town who grapples with his inner demons and a growing suspicion that he may be a werewolf. As he struggles with alcoholism and isolation, his disturbing nocturnal activities begin to seep into his artwork, blurring the lines between reality and nightmares.

“Blackout” is part of Fessenden’s monster trilogy, preceded by “Habit” (vampires) and “Depraved” (Frankenstein), continuing his exploration of the darkness within human nature. The cast includes notable names such as Addison Timlin, James LeGros, Kevin Corrigan, Barbara Crampton, and Joe Swanberg, among others.

Larry Fessenden, a recipient of the 1997 Someone to Watch Spirit Award, has made significant contributions to independent cinema as a filmmaker and actor. His body of work includes producing acclaimed films like “River of Grass” and “Wendy and Lucy” and directing psychological horrors like “Wendigo” and “The Last Winter.”

“Blackout” is produced by Fessenden, James Felix McKenney, Chris Ingvordsen, and co-produced by Gaby Leyner. Fessenden expresses his excitement about the project, stating, “I am interested in finding new truths in the classic monster tropes of my youth… I am excited to work with Yellow Veil again; they understand my filmmaking and have been fierce advocates.”
