“Bjorn of the Undead” – Bruce Dickinson, Iron Maiden Frontman, to Feature in Horror Film Centered on Tribute Bands
Next on the directorial horizon of Elza Kephart (known for “Slaxx”) is the upcoming horror film “Bjorn of the Dead.” The big news, as reported by Deadline today, is the involvement of Bruce Dickinson, the iconic figure from Iron Maiden, who is set to star in the film.
What makes this tale even more intriguing is that this horror movie has nothing to do with Iron Maiden; it’s all about ABBA. More precisely, it revolves around an ABBA tribute band. According to Deadline, the film’s premise is as follows: “It centers around an ABBA tribute band who find themselves, along with other tribute acts, trapped in a nightclub at the start of the apocalypse. Bjorn and his band must work together to save themselves, humanity, and the future of music.”
In addition to Bruce Dickinson’s participation, the film promises various cameo appearances from the realms of rock and heavy metal. It’s expected to be a gruesome, blood-soaked gore fest.
Here’s the official plot synopsis for the movie:
Bjorn, the lead singer in Abbatoir, along with his bandmates Benny, Anni-Frid, and Agnetha, spend their weekends performing Abba classics at an array of increasingly gloomy venues, ranging from retirement homes to desolate pub back rooms. The grind takes its toll, and the band contemplates throwing in the towel. However, things take an unexpected turn when Benny, the band’s eldest and neediest member, hears about a Battle Of The Bands competition for tribute bands at The Niney Dimey.
As the band arrives to set up their equipment, things take a sinister turn. A disturbance in the main room of the venue quickly spirals out of control, forcing Bjorn and his band to seek refuge backstage. To their horror, some of the other bands sustain injuries in the chaos outside, and these injuries soon become a problem when the wounded individuals undergo a horrific transformation into bloodthirsty undead.
“Bjorn of the Dead” was penned by Austin Dickinson, the son of Bruce Dickinson, and is based on an original story by Andrew Prendergast, who also serves as a producer alongside Austin Dickinson.
Raven Banner is responsible for worldwide sales of the film, and further updates are eagerly awaited.
