‘Birdeater’ transforms a bachelor party weekend into a chilling nightmare, and Dark Sky Films has released a new trailer and poster that capture the intense, “feral” nature of this Australian psychological thriller. The film is set to hit theaters on January 10, 2025.
The story follows a bride-to-be who joins her fiancé’s bachelor party in the remote Australian Outback. What starts as a celebratory weekend quickly descends into chaos, revealing uncomfortable truths about their relationship and turning the festivities into a nightmarish ordeal.
The trailer, intense and almost hallucinatory, offers a glimpse into the film’s harrowing journey. Critics have repeatedly described ‘Birdeater’ as “feral,” highlighting its raw and unsettling atmosphere.
Directed by Jack Clark and Jim Weir, ‘Birdeater’ marks the filmmaking duo’s visually striking and bold debut in the horror thriller genre. The screenplay was written by Jack Clark.
The cast includes Shabana Azeez, Mackenzie Fearnley, Ben Hunter, Jack Bannister, Clementine Anderson, Alfie Gledhill, Harley Wilson, and Caroline McQuade.
‘Birdeater’ premiered at the Sydney Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award for Australian Narrative Feature, before making its international debut at SXSW. The film was produced by Stephanie Troost and Ulysses Oliver, with executive producers including Ben Ferris, Chris Thompson, Jack Stephens, Jack Clark, and Jim Weir.
