Variety has revealed that Giant Pictures has acquired the rights to “Art of a Hit,” described as a “musical horror-thriller,” set for release in 2024 in North America. The film centers around a ’90s rock band frontman navigating the challenges of fading relevance. Invited by an eccentric producer to record at his French chateau in Dordogne, France, the band encounters unexpected and chilling obstacles.
Director Gaelan Draper and co-writer/star Charlie Saxton describe the film as a blend of late ’90s and early 2000s rock culture, infused with humor, horror, and raw honesty about the struggles of artistic ambition. The storyline resonates with the band experience and explores the intense anxieties of pursuing success in the music industry.
Starring Ryan Donowho (“The O.C.”), Charlie Saxton (“Hung”), Tim Jo (“This Is Us”), Rob Raco (“Riverdale”), James Earl (“White Men Can’t Jump”), Allie MacDonald (“What/If”), and David Valdes (“Last the Night”), the film boasts an original soundtrack by Jets to Brazil.
Giant Pictures plans to premiere “Art of a Hit” on streaming platforms this Fall.
