Production is underway on Scott Derrickson’s Blumhouse horror sequel The Black Phone 2, and Deadline reports today that the film’s cast will include Arianna Rivas (Prom Dates).

Arianna Rivas recently had a role in the Hulu Original comedy Prom Dates, and she also starred in the 2023 movie The Harvest. She’ll next be seen in David Ayer’s movie Levon’s Trade.

You can learn more about Arianna Rivas over on her official Instagram account.

Ethan Hawke will be back as The Grabber in The Black Phone, which Universal and Blumhouse will be releasing on the big screen just in time for next Halloween on October 17, 2025.

The cast for The Black Phone 2 also includes Mason Thames (How to Train Your Dragon, Incoming), Madeleine McGraw (Toy Story 4, Secrets of Sulphur Springs), Jeremy Davies (Justified), Miguel Mora (The Black Phone), and Demián Bichir (The Nun).

Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill will be writing and producing the upcoming sequel, with Derrickson directing. The first movie was based on Joe Hill’s short story.

Thames played the 13-year-old Finney, who early in the movie is abducted by a sadistic killer (Hawke) and trapped in a soundproof basement where screaming is of little use.

When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring, Finney discovers that he can hear the voices of the killer’s previous victims. Ultimately, Finney escapes his nightmare.

What role will the returning characters play in The Black Phone 2, especially since Hawke’s Grabber is apparently dead, you might be wondering? Stay tuned for plot details.
