NEON has unleashed the much-anticipated trailer for “Eileen,” described as a “wild Hitchcockian noir.” The film, featuring Anne Hathaway and Thomasin McKenzie, known for her role in “Last Night in Soho,” is an adaptation of Ottessa Moshfegh’s critically acclaimed novel. Directed by William Oldroyd, the mind-bending psychological thriller promises to captivate audiences.

The movie will make its debut in theaters in New York and Los Angeles on December 1, 2023, offering a taste of its dark intrigue. For those beyond these cities, the nationwide theatrical release is scheduled for December 8, 2023.

Set against the backdrop of a harsh Massachusetts winter in 1964, “Eileen” follows the story of a young secretary, Eileen, whose life takes an unexpected turn when a charismatic new counselor arrives at the prison where she works. Their budding friendship soon leads to the revelation of a haunting secret, plunging Eileen into a sinister and suspenseful journey.

Ottessa Moshfegh, the author of the source material, expressed her excitement about seeing her work come to life on the silver screen. She said, “Seeing my book come to life on screen has always been a career goal. The premiere at Sundance was a beautiful glimpse of what is to come.”
