Renowned French filmmaker Julia Ducournau has solidified her status as a genre luminary with her initial two cinematic endeavors—first, the chilling exploration of cannibalism in “Raw” (2016), followed by the audacious and unpredictable “Titane” in 2021.

Now, Ducournau unveils her latest enigmatic creation, “Alpha,” poised to intrigue audiences anew. Variety broke the news this afternoon that NEON has secured the North American distribution rights for this upcoming cinematic venture.

It’s worth noting that NEON had previously handled the release of Ducournau’s daring “Titane.”

The cast for “Alpha” boasts the talents of Golshifteh Farahani (“The Patience Stone”) and Tahar Rahim (“The Serpent”).

Commenting on the film, FilmNation Entertainment and Charades jointly expressed, “Alpha represents Julia’s most intimate and profound work to date, and we are eagerly anticipating its global debut. We share in the excitement of introducing audiences to this captivating narrative, and we’re thrilled to collaborate in bringing this film to Cannes and launching its sales campaign together for the first time.”

The producers further elaborated on the project’s significance, stating, “Alpha marks a significant chapter in Julia Ducournau’s body of work—it maintains the essence of her previous creations while forging a fresh narrative trajectory. To complement such a remarkable endeavor, we’ve sought to transcend traditional boundaries, as evidenced by the extraordinary collaboration between producers and international sales companies alike.”
