Renowned actor John Beasley, best known for his recurring appearances on the television series “Everwood” and “The Soul Man,” sadly passed away on Tuesday, May 30, at 79, according to THR.

The report reveals that Beasley passed away at a hospital in his hometown of Omaha, Nebraska, where he had been undergoing liver tests before experiencing an unexpected turn for the worse.

In a heartfelt tribute on Facebook, Beasley’s son, Mike W. Beasley, wrote, “It’s a part of life… but that doesn’t make it any easier. Today, I lost my best friend. They say you should never meet your heroes because they may not live up to your expectations. That couldn’t be further from the truth. My hero was my father. Thank you for everything. I hope I made you proud. Love you more.”

In the horror genre, John Beasley recently starred in the film adaptation of Stephen King’s “Firestarter” released last year. His contributions to the horror genre also include notable films like “Lost Souls” (2000), Sam Raimi’s “The Gift” (2000), “Haunted Maze” (2013), “The Purge: Anarchy” (2014), “Sinister 2” (2015), and “Spell” (2020).

According to Beasley’s IMDb biography, he spent the first 44 years of his life away from the acting spotlight and worked as a Union Pacific railroad clerk for seven years before deciding to pursue acting as a full-time career. His acting journey began in 1989 and encompassed remarkable film roles such as “The Mighty Ducks,” “Untamed Heart,” “Rudy,” “The Untouchables,” “Little Big League,” “The Apostle,” “The General’s Daughter,” “The Sum of All Fears,” and “Walking Tall.” On the small screen, Beasley made appearances in shows like “Missing Persons,” “Millennium,” “CSI,” “NCIS,” “Boston Legal,” and “The Resident.”

John Beasley is survived by his wife Judy, sons Michael and Tyrone, daughter-in-law Katie, and grandchildren Evan, Miles, Olivia, Mika, Darius, and Malik Beasley.
