Production on the psychological horror-thriller Victorian Psycho is slated to begin early next year, with Deadline reporting that A24 has already secured the domestic distribution rights.

Starring Margaret Qualley, fresh off her Golden Globe-nominated role in Coralie Fargeat’s The Substance, the film also features Thomasin McKenzie (Last Night in Soho).

Set in 1958, the story revolves around Winifred Notty (Qualley), a quirky young governess who arrives at the isolated, gothic Ensor House. Tasked with teaching the children proper table manners and their family history, Winifred must conceal her dark, psychopathic tendencies. As she settles into life at the manor, staff members begin to mysteriously vanish, prompting the estate’s owners to question their new governess’s true nature.

McKenzie plays a nursemaid who befriends Winifred, further complicating the unsettling dynamics at Ensor House.

Directed by Zachary Wigon (Sanctuary), Victorian Psycho is based on Virginia Feito’s upcoming novel of the same name, with Feito also penning the screenplay. The book is set to be released on February 4, 2025.

The film is produced by Dan Kagan (Longlegs).
