Paramount Pictures is revisiting the terrifying world of A Quiet Place with the upcoming prequel film, A Quiet Place: Day One, aiming to deepen the lore of John Krasinski’s acclaimed horror series.
While anticipation builds for the release of the movie’s first trailer – rumored to debut during this Sunday’s Super Bowl – Entertainment Weekly has unveiled two exclusive images today, offering fans a sneak peek into the film’s narrative.
According to EW, the prequel follows Lupita Nyong’o’s character, Sam, who finds herself in New York City on a routine day trip when the monstrous creatures make their catastrophic arrival. As chaos ensues, Sam is forced into an unlikely alliance with Eric, portrayed by Joseph Quinn, as they navigate the perilous urban landscape to survive.
In addition to the human protagonists, the images also introduce a feline companion named Frodo, owned by Sam. Moreover, it’s revealed that Djimon Hounsou, who featured in A Quiet Place Part II, will reprise his role in Day One.
Scheduled to hit theaters on June 28, 2024, A Quiet Place: Day One boasts a stellar cast including Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Quinn, and Alex Wolff, with Michael Sarnoski (known for Pig) stepping into the director’s chair.
The prequel, based on an original concept by John Krasinski and Michael Sarnoski, features a screenplay penned by Sarnoski. Krasinski, along with Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller of Platinum Dunes, will serve as producers.
The success of A Quiet Place Part II, which grossed $297 million worldwide following its release in May 2021, has solidified the franchise’s popularity, paving the way for its expansion and hinting at the potential for further exploration in future installments.
