Release Date Set for ‘The Exorcist: Deceiver’ – Second Installment of New Trilogy Arriving in 2025
Prepare to be spooked this Halloween season as David Gordon Green’s “The Exorcist: Believer” kicks off a chilling trilogy, with the revelation of the second chapter.
Mark your calendars for “The Exorcist: Deceiver,” haunting theaters on April 18, 2025.
The first film of the trilogy is set to hit theaters on October 13, 2023, featuring Leslie Odom Jr. alongside the returning Ellen Burstyn, reprising her role from the original classic.
Here’s the official plot synopsis for “Believer”…
Victor Fielding (Leslie Odom Jr.), haunted by the death of his pregnant wife in a Haitian earthquake 12 years ago, has been raising their daughter Angela (Lidya Jewett) alone. But when Angela and her friend Katherine (Olivia Marcum) mysteriously vanish in the woods, only to return three days later with no recollection of what transpired, a series of terrifying events is set in motion. Victor is pushed to confront the depths of evil, and in his terror and desperation, he seeks out the only living person who has witnessed something similar before.
David Gordon Green helms the spine-chilling sequels to “The Exorcist,” produced by Universal, Blumhouse, and Morgan Creek. The title of the third movie is yet to be unveiled, so stay tuned for more spine-tingling updates.
“The Exorcist” franchise has been absent from the big screen since the release of “Dominion: Prequel to The Exorcist” in 2005, an alternative version of “Exorcist: The Beginning,” which had debuted the previous year. These films followed “The Exorcist II: The Heretic” in 1977 and “The Exorcist III” in 1990.
More recently, “The Exorcist” took on a new form as a short-lived television series on Fox. Surprisingly excellent, the show cleverly existed in the same world as the original classic, giving fans a fresh and thrilling experience.
