BD reported that had the opportunity to chat with Ted Raimi about his upcoming psychological thriller, Failure!, an ambitious project that unfolds in a single take.  Failure! will have its highly anticipated world premiere at FrightFest 2023. To accompany the news, the official teaser trailer for the film has been released.

Alief, a K-French sales agent, distribution, and production company, revealed that Failure!, led by Ted Raimi, secured its worldwide rights at the Cannes Film Festival in May. The film initially made its debut at the Fantastic Pavilion.

Failure! follows the story of James (played by Raimi), who finds himself in a dire financial situation, owing a significant debt to the bank. He is faced with an ultimatum: choose between financial ruin or committing murder to protect his family. As the clock ticks, James’s home and phone are invaded by a series of enigmatic characters who pull him in conflicting directions, steadily pushing him toward the brink. However, distinguishing reality from illusion becomes increasingly challenging.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the film, Raimi shared, “I’m insanely excited to showcase this film to British audiences. Known primarily as ‘the horror guy’ to my fans, I’m proud of that association. However, Failure! will reveal a different side of me that fans will truly appreciate. Plus, being part of FrightFest, the UK’s biggest horror and thriller event, is an absolute thrill for me as a moviegoer.”

Alongside Raimi, the film features a talented cast including Merrick McCartha (Senior Year), Melissa Diaz (Ruthless), John Paul Medrano (Seven Days), Daniel Kuhlman (Voodoo MacBeth), and Noel Douglas Orput.

Director Alex Kahuam, who previously made his genre film debut with Forgiveness in 2021, returns to FrightFest with Failure!. This psychological thriller is masterfully shot in a single continuous take lasting 87 minutes, making Kahuam the first Mexican director to achieve this feat in the United States. The film is divided into three acts, drawing comparisons to the intense BAFTA-winning Boiling Point from 2022 and the 2015 film Victoria.

Failure! is produced by Kahuam and Raimi, along with Marco De Molina, Kayli Fortun, and Jose D. Rodriguez through Kahuam’s Promotora NAE and De Molina’s Spacebrain Entertainment.
