Thrilling Horror Film ‘The Blackening’ Arrives On Demand This Friday
Following a successful run in theaters during the Juneteenth weekend, Tim Story’s “The Blackening” is making its way to Premium Video On Demand platforms on Friday, July 7.
“The Blackening” had its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and centers around a group of Black friends who gather for a Juneteenth weekend getaway, only to find themselves trapped in a remote cabin with a sadistic killer. As they are forced to play by the killer’s rules, they soon realize that this is no ordinary game.
Directed by Tim Story (known for “Ride Along,” “Think Like A Man,” and “Barbershop”) and co-written by Tracy Oliver (“Girls Trip,” “Harlem”) and Dewayne Perkins (“The Amber Ruffin Show,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”), “The Blackening” satirizes genre tropes and poses an ironic question: in a horror movie where the entire cast is Black, who dies first?
Having gained immense popularity at the Toronto International Film Festival, “The Blackening” features a talented cast including Antoinette Robertson, Dewayne Perkins, Sinqua Walls, Grace Byers, X Mayo, Melvin Gregg, Jermaine Fowler, Yvonne Orji, and Jay Pharoah.
The film is produced by Marcei A. Brown, Jason Clark, E. Brian Dobbins, Tracy Oliver, Tim Story, and Sharla Sumpter Bridgett. Dewayne Perkins serves as a co-producer, with Vicky Story as an associate producer.
