Netflix’s Smash Series “Squid Game” Season 2 Reveals Complete Cast Lineup
Netflix has officially announced the return of the highly acclaimed series “Squid Game” for its second season, along with the remaining cast members who will be joining the global phenomenon.
This week marked the first table read for the cast members and showrunners, signaling the commencement of production for “Squid Game” Season 2 later this year.
From emerging talents to seasoned actors, the ensemble cast encompasses a diverse array of skills and backgrounds. Director Hwang Dong-hyuk, who received an Emmy for the first season, will be back to helm and executive produce the entire second season.
The newly added cast comprises the following individuals:
Park Gyu-young: Recognized for her role in Netflix’s series “Sweet Home” Seasons 1 and 2, she is set to star in the upcoming Netflix series “Celebrity” as well.
Jo Yu-ri: This singer and actress rose to fame as a former member of the South Korean-Japanese girl group Iz*One.
Kang Ae-sim: A highly regarded theater and musical actress in Korea, she left a lasting impression on audiences with her performances in the TV series “Be Melodramatic” and the Netflix series “Move to Heaven.”
Lee David: Best known for his supporting roles in director Hwang’s film “The Fortress,” he crossed paths with Lee Jung-jae through the movie “Svaha: The Sixth Finger.”
Lee Jin-uk: Notable for his appearances in Netflix’s series “Sweet Home” Seasons 1 and 2, he has also made a name for himself in various Korean dramas and films, including one of director Hwang’s notable works, “Miss Granny.”
Choi Seung-hyun: A singer and actor who has starred in several Korean films and TV series such as “Tazza: The Hidden Card” and “Commitment.”
Roh Jae-won: Having made his acting debut in 2021, he is rapidly gaining recognition through films like “Missing Yoon” and “Ditto.”
Won Ji-an: Impressed viewers with her remarkable debut in the first season of the Netflix series “D.P.”
These additions join the previously announced stars of “Squid Game” Season 2, revealed during Netflix’s TUDUM event, including Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun, Gong Yoo, Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon, and Yang Dong-geun.
“Squid Game” is a South Korean series that follows the journey of numerous financially strapped participants who accept a peculiar invitation to compete in children’s games. Within this enigmatic environment lies a seductive prize with life-threatening risks, offering a colossal prize of 45.6 billion won.
