M. Night Shyamalan Signs Deal with Warner Bros. for Thriller ‘Trap’ and Daughter’s Debut Film ‘The Watchers’.
Renowned filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan has entered into a multi-year agreement with Warner Bros. as part of a first-look directing and producing deal. The enigmatic thriller titled “Trap” is set to be his first project under this partnership. The initial details of the plot were unveiled at Warner Bros’ CineEurope show.
According to Deadline, both M. Night Shyamalan and his daughter, Ishana, shared their excitement about their respective projects in a video presentation. Ishana is making her feature directing debut with “The Watchers,” described as a gothic fairy tale. Meanwhile, Shyamalan expressed enthusiasm for his upcoming psychological thriller “Trap,” which is set in the backdrop of a concert.
It’s worth noting that Ishana Night Shyamalan’s “The Watchers” will be produced by M. Night Shyamalan for WB/New Line.
The release date for “Trap,” co-produced by Shyamalan and Warner Bros., is already set for August 2, 2024, targeting a theatrical release.
Earlier this year, in an interview with NME, Shyamalan provided a glimpse into the concept of “Trap,” describing it as a thrilling story that he’s been eagerly working on. He expressed great anticipation to share the unique and unconventional narrative with audiences.
The idea of a psychological thriller set in the context of a concert undoubtedly adds an intriguing twist to the film.
Shyamalan, known for his association with Disney and Universal, expressed his fondness for these studios while emphasizing his excitement for the opportunity to work with Warner Bros. In addition to “Trap,” Shyamalan has another thrilling project in the works. Audiences can expect to hear more about the upcoming film titled “Caddo Lake,” previously known as “The Vanishings At Caddo Lake,” which recently received a PG-13 rating due to its inclusion of some disturbing/bloody images, thematic elements, and brief strong language.
