Sony Pictures Takes Audiences Back to the Sinister World of Insidious with “The Red Door”.
Prepare to step into the eerie realm of “The Further” once more as Sony Pictures brings forth the highly anticipated horror film, “Insidious: The Red Door,” set to hit theaters on July 7, 2023. Tickets for this chilling cinematic experience are now available for purchase.
Continuing the dark legacy of the franchise, the Motion Picture Association (MPA) has officially granted the film a “PG-13” rating, consistent with its predecessors. Brace yourself for an intense journey filled with violence, terror, frightening images, strong language, and suggestive references.
While “Insidious: The Red Door” signals the culmination of the main storyline, fans need not despair, as the franchise lives on. A newly announced spinoff titled “Thread: An Insidious Tale” guarantees to keep the suspense alive.
Reprising their roles, the original cast returns, led by director and star Patrick Wilson. This time, the Lamberts delve deeper into The Further, unraveling long-held family secrets and encountering both familiar demons from the past and spine-chilling new horrors.
In this installment, we witness Josh (Patrick Wilson) and a now college-aged Dalton (Ty Simpkins) venturing further into The Further than ever before, determined to lay their demons to rest once and for all.
Alongside Wilson and Simpkins, the film features the talents of Rose Byrne, Andrew Astor, Lin Shaye, Sinclair Daniel, and Hiam Abbass. The production boasts a formidable team including Jason Blum, Oren Peli, James Wan, and Leigh Whannell as producers. Scott Teems has penned the screenplay, based on a story by Leigh Whannell, drawing inspiration from his own original characters.
Expressing his excitement about the project, Patrick Wilson shared, “I’m honored and thrilled to be at the helm of the next Insidious installment, which will provide an amazing chance to unpack everything the Lamberts went through a decade ago, as well as deal with the consequences of their choices. Directing the movie is both professionally and personally a full-circle moment for me, and I am extremely grateful to be entrusted with continuing to tell this frightening and haunting story. Into the further, we go…”
Leigh Whannell and James Wan, who wrote and directed the first two films, initiated the spine-chilling saga that revolves around the Lambert family and their harrowing encounters within The Further. The most recent addition to the franchise, “Insidious: The Last Key,” was released in 2018, leaving audiences eagerly awaiting the next chapter of this nightmarish tale.
