The mega-sized official trailer for Meg 2: The Trench, which will be swimming into theaters on August 4, 2023, has devoured much of the internet tonight. (Trailer up here)!

The three-minute-long trailer features plenty of deep water action-horror craziness, starting with The Meg gorging on a T-Rex and then heaping more and more delectable cheese on top of the meal. Ben Wheatley appears to have produced the highest-budget SYFY original shark attack film ever, and goddamn does it look fun.

Ben Wheatley (In the Earth, Free Fire) is the director of Meg 2: The Trench, which was adapted from the Steve Alten novel The Trench. The screenplay was written by Jon Hoeber & Erich Hoeber (The Meg, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts), Dean Georgaris (The Meg, Lara Croft: Toom Raider – The Cradle of Life), and Jon Hoeber & Erich Hoeber.

Production designer Chris Lowe (The Gray Man, No Time to Die), director of photography Haris Zambarloukous (Belfast, Murder on the Orient Express), and editor Jonathan Amos (Baby Driver, Paddington 2) work behind the camera with director Ben Wheatley. Pete Bebb (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Inception) is in charge of overseeing the visual effects, and Lindsay Pugh (The Matrix Resurrections, Krypton) is in charge of creating the costumes.
