On June 2, 2023, The Boogeyman from 20th Century Studios and 21 Laps will transport us back into Stephen King’s mind. As of right now, four new posters have been released.

Who is under the mattress? What could be hidden in the closet? Below is a sneak peek of the paranormal terror.

High school student Sadie Harper and her younger sister Sawyer are in the movie “reeling from their mother’s recent death and aren’t getting much assistance from their father, Will, a therapist who is suffering from his own anguish.

“A terrifying supernatural entity that preys on families and thrives on the suffering of its victims is left behind when a desperate patient unexpectedly shows up at their home.”

Director Rob Savage describes “The Boogeyman” as a “classic horror movie in the style of ‘Poltergeist,’ with scares and heart in equal measure.” “I well recall the anxiety I experienced while reading Stephen King’s short tale as a child, and it is this sense of adolescent fear that I wanted to evoke in moviegoers all over the world. This movie was created in conjunction with a really gifted group of artists, and our amazing ensemble gave great, passionate performances that absolutely left me in amazement. We have the utmost pride in this film.

Along with David Dastmalchian (Dune, The Suicide Squad), Marin Ireland (Y: The Last Man, The Umbrella Academy), Vivien Lyra Blair (Bird Box, Mr. Corman), and Madison Hu (Voyagers), the cast also includes Sophie Thatcher (“Yellowjackets”) and Chris Messina (Birds of Prey).

The earliest drafts of the script were written by Scott Beck & Bryan Woods (A Quiet Place) and Akela Cooper (Malignant), with Mark Heyman (Black Swan) joining them.

21 Laps’ Producing is done by Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, and Dan Cohen.

Before appearing in Stephen King’s Night Shift collection in 1978, the original story was initially published in 1973. This will be the first feature-length adaptation of the story.
