Apple TV+ debuted today a stunning new trailer for “Silo,” the compelling, world-building Apple Original drama based on Hugh Howey’s New York Times bestselling trilogy of dystopian novels. It’s planned to premiere globally on Friday, May 5.
The series depicts the story of “the last 10,000 inhabitants on Earth, whose mile-deep home safeguards them from the toxic and dangerous world outside.” Unfortunately, no one knows when or why the silo was created, and anyone who tries to find out risks being killed. Ferguson plays Juliette, an engineer who seeks answers concerning the murder of a loved one and stumbles across a secret that is far deeper than she could have ever imagined, leading her to learn that “if the lies don’t kill you, the truth will.”
The new clip below shows how serious the heroes’ pursuit of truth can become in a post-apocalyptic setting. It also spotlights an all-star ensemble at the center of this apocalyptic thriller.
The ensemble cast is led by Rebecca Ferguson (Dune, Doctor Sleep), who also acts as executive producer. Graham Yost (“Band of Brothers,” “Justified”), who also serves as showrunner on “Silo,” is an Emmy-nominated screenwriter. Academy Award-nominee Morten Tyldum (“Defending Jacob,” “The Imitation Game”) directed the first three episodes.
Common (“The Chi”), Emmy nominee Harriet Walter (“Succession”), Chinaza Uche (“Dickinson”), Avi Nash (“The Walking Dead”), Critics Choice Award and NAACP winner David Oyelowo (Selma), Emmy contender Rashida Jones (“Parks and Recreation”), and Academy Award winner Tim Robbins also appear in the series (Mystic River).
“Silo” is based on Howey’s Silo series, which began with the short tale “Wool” in 2011. Shift, Dust, three short tales, and Wool: The Graphic Novel were all inspired by the short story.
The first two episodes of the 10-episode series will be released globally on Apple TV+ on Friday, May 5, 2023, followed by one new episode every Friday until June 30, 2023.
