New ‘Companion’ Images Reveal Key Characters in Enigmatic Horror Film

Warner Bros., New Line Cinema, and producer Zach Cregger (Barbarian) are keeping Companion under wraps, offering no details about the plot. While the newly unveiled images don’t reveal much about the mysterious storyline, they do provide a closer look at the central characters.

Companion, a sci-fi/horror film, marks the directorial debut of Drew Hancock, who also wrote the script. Details about the plot remain tightly guarded for now.

Set to hit theaters on January 31, 2025, the movie stars Sophie Thatcher (Heretic, The Boogeyman), Rupert Friend (Separation), Harvey Guillén (What We Do in the Shadows), Lukas Gage (You), Megan Suri (It Lives Inside), and Jack Quaid (Scream, The Boys).

The new images feature close-ups of Thatcher and Quaid, along with a wide shot showing Gage’s character in a moment of terror. Additionally, the character names have been revealed: Thatcher plays Iris, Quaid portrays Josh, and Gage takes on the role of Patrick. A previously released teaser hints at a twisted love story, but we’re unlikely to learn much more before the film’s January release.

Companion has been rated “R” for “strong violence, sexual content, and language throughout.”

Produced by BoulderLight’s Raphael Margules and J.D. Lifshitz, and Vertigo’s Roy Lee, Companion also sees Tracy Rosenblum and Andrew Childs as executive producers.

New Line Cinema presents a BoulderLight Pictures production in association with Vertigo Entertainment/Subconscious. The film is set for release on January 31, 2025.
